Those cars are assembled in Canada. They are ok although Canadian assembled non-US brand is better.

Parts are needed for other cars assembled in Canada as well. Shift the demand for the car and the parts demand follows.
January 14, 2026 at 8:47 PM
Yeah I got it mixed up. My US history back that far isnt as strong as my Canadian history during that time period.

I think Mexico should have them since Gulf of Mexico and all.
January 14, 2026 at 8:46 PM
Im not saying to stop exports to the US. Im just saying we shouldn't be spending money on the US. Keep the money here as much as we can.
January 14, 2026 at 8:42 PM
If we bought those cars instead, we would shift that demand. If we bought a Lexus instead of a Ford, the demand would shift and Cambridge would get more business.

We should be buying Canadian assembled cars and imports from countries other than the US.

Canadian assembled cars help our economy.

I need to brush up on my US history!

My car is a 2012 Hyundai Elantra. I love it but I will be in thr market for a different vehicle in the next 24 months or so.

I dont want a car with a stupid touch screen and no buttons.
January 14, 2026 at 8:33 PM
A mix of both.

Option 1: buy vehicles that are not American companies but assembled here (Civic, CRV, Rav4 as example)

Option 2: American companies but assembled in Canada or Mexico (Silverado, Lexus RX)

Option 3: Foreign non-US company imports (Subaru, Volvo, etc)

Option 4: Buy used.

The parts would shift to other brands if we purchased Canadian assembled or Mexican assembled vehicles instead of US assembled vehicles.

Foreign companies will manufacture here if we show them there is demand and those parts could then be made here as well. Just have to shift the demand first.

The demand for parts just shifts to cars already being assembled here if we purchase Canadian assembled cars over US assembled cars.

I'm hoping they restock with Canadian pellets next year. Otherwise I'll just use good old Ontario electric heat.

Enjoy Toronto!! I used to live there! Don't mind our Premiere, he's an orange wanna be.
January 14, 2026 at 7:37 PM
Or maybe, just maybe, I do understand it

Buy non-American brand vehicles
or buy Canadian assembled vehicles

For example, buying a Honda CRV over a Ford Escape.
CRV is assembled here in Canada w/ many Canadian parts. That supports the Canadian auto-industry & decreases spend in the US auto-industry
