Incredible afternoon at Shrevewood Elementary -- began with a brief tour led by two amazing students, and then I spent some time helping our hard-working custodians clean the school. Grateful for all they do to keep student learning spaces healthy, safe, and truly welcoming!

With snowy-weather season here, how does FCPS decide when to cancel, delay, or close schools early? The Superintendent and her team review road condition information from emergency management and highway officials, and FCPS personnel inspect roads, sidewalks, and school parking lots and bus lanes.

Congrats to Oakton High School — the first-ever FCPS girls flag football champions! This inaugural season, powered by our Washington Commanders partnership, drew 775 players across the division. The sport opens doors to college scholarship opportunities and Olympic competition beginning in 2028.

We've officially kicked off the School Board's annual Student Leadership Development Program. I am excited to welcome Oakton High School's Nadia Meares as this year’s Providence District representative, and I can't wait to see her leadership grow and shine this year!

Enjoyed kicking off my day with a Pine Spring Elementary bus ride-along with Mr. Spaulding, one of our incredibly hardworking FCPS bus drivers. Loved meeting families and talking with (mostly!) alert and eager students. Big shout-out to our safety patrol student leaders for doing such a great job!

Just before Thanksgiving break, I had the opportunity to volunteer in Mantua Elementary School's library, reading to students and helping with book checkouts. Grateful to librarian Ms. Marmol and library assistant Ms. Donat for their service to our students (and for showing me the ropes!)
