I'm a Professor of Environmental Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine. I have conducted numerous epidemiological studies of the human exposures and health effects of air pollution over the past 40+ years, especially of particulate matter air pollution..

Toxic coal constituents (e,g, Arsenic) in the coal are volatilized by the pyrolysis process, and vented to the ambient air, where they cool and condense into especially toxic particles for all to breathe.
Our plot of the plummeting local pediatric asthma emergency department visits following the coal coking plant closure is especially striking
Our new study documenting dramatic respiratory health benefits following the closure of a fossil fuel coal coking plant is out! Pediatric asthma Emergency Dept. visits were especially reduced. Transitioning away from fossil fuels will yield a healthier humanity. www.atsjournals.org/doi/10.1164/...

The news article said that.
Another survey finds that the public trusts scientists. So why have most scientists not used their voice to advance climate change mitigation action? We need to step up, use the platform that we have earned, and help make that change we want to see! theconversation.com/most-of-us-t...
Most of us trust scientists, shows a survey of nearly 72,000 people worldwide
A global new survey shows there’s no crisis of trust in scientists, as some might claim. But there are some nuances.

This Monday I'll be a speaker at this ISEE scientific webinar on "Testifying before Congress" to teach other scientists how to get involved, and how to succeed at it. I hope they will! (lnkd.in/eWRSHDvP)
Just one study unable to detect a trend is not sufficient for much attention. It may lack power. Or fail to consider all variables. Need more investigations to reach a consensus.
We also should not conclude that there is no problem from one study.
It’s not right to say this study found that the AMOC has not declined. There is a lot of variation here. Not being able to detect something with your data and methods does not mean it is not happening. But, that said, I hope it isn’t.
New coal plant denied! “on the basis that there was insufficient consideration of the harms and the limitation of rights of present and future generations…from building new coal-fired electricity generation” Once those are considered, they r not justified vs. alternatives.
