The amazing Palace Theater in #Hilo celebrates its’ 100-year anniversary this weekend! So glad we’ve been able to join the eclectic festivities. It’s not only a Hawaiian gem, but a world rarity as a functioning, vibrant movie palace from the Silent Era. Here’s hoping for another 100.
I had a #dream last night that I was playing #pinball in the Parisian catacombs. Turns out there *is* a Catacomb machine, so now I want to play it under Paris. Stranger things have happened in my life, so I’ll start manifesting it now….
I’ve spent the last 4 yrs writing the 1st complete biography on the 19th Century’s most elusive & successful international gentleman burglar. The media response to today’s inelegant smash & grab at the #louvre gives me hope it might actually sell…
I was an extra in this movie in HS, but you’ll only see the top of my head, lol.
It was a mission to get there, but we were well rewarded with glorious whale sharks and friendly ‘Saints’. Can’t wait to figure out a way back, hopefully for longer.
I’m old enough to remember dressing up to take a flight.
Rare piece of good news: Siberia Bar is back! A favorite, hidden hang for me 25 years ago. Best eclectic juke box anywhere. (If I saw Bourdain there, I was too drunk to remember) www.timeout.com/newyork/news...

If you live in #hawaii & play #pinball, more folks are needed for next weekend’s 9/20 tournament at #hiscorekona (the arcade is excellent if you haven’t been)
So great. Thx for sharing.
In 25 years working in film/TV biz, Lyle was the kindest, smartest, most genuine human I encountered. Was lucky enough to hang w him a few times. He is an American treasure. Great interview.
Happy International #pinball day to all who celebrate.
I did end up accidentally owning a drive-in theatre. Wasn’t our first double, but I amused myself pairing ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘Twister’
20 years ago, I made a kids sports TV pilot hosted by Muggsy Bogues. Never got bought, but I spent time w/a legit American hero. Not only is his sports legacy legendary, he’s also one of the best humans I’ve ever met. He has never, ever given up on anything or anyone in his life. Be like Muggsy.
I worked on Ghostwriter for two seasons. Was my first gig in the TV business :) Mostly fond memories, but very long days.
Not sure how many folks know that Emily Post completed an early, arduous cross-country journey by motorcar in 1915, which she would chronicle in ‘By Motor to the Golden Gate’ before she launched her career in the etiquette arts. It’s a fun read.
It’s all about ‘the Harolds’- prob seen ‘Harold & Maude’ x 50 and every Harold Ramis film at least 30, except Groundhog Day, which I’ve seen over 200x. Other top contenders are the guilty pleasures - Hot Tub Time Machine, French Kiss, Can’t Hardly Wait, Galaxy Quest, Office Space & Midnight Run.

(Mahalo, Hawai’i. Your ‘light show’ was particularly spectacular today…)
I presume those posters were hand-painted? So fantastic. I was just reading about the Athinaion theatre in Greece that still maintains that tradition. It’s a lost art that should make a comeback. Thx for sharing :)
