Disagree with a Judge's opinion, appeal. Disagree with the appellate court's opinion, appeal. Appeal all the way to SCOTUS. Disagree with SCOTUS, work to change the law.

Strong social programs were never about implementing socialism, at least not in the way you were "warned" about. They were simply about taking a few more steps towards the ideals espoused by our founders, towards that more perfect union that we have yet to achieve.
