Formal: Laws allow others to decide for a person with disabilities, like denying them the right to marry or forcing sterilizing them without their consent.

Informal: A person has the right to decide, but others make the choices for them in practice.

What is Legal Capacity? Legal capacity is a fundamental human right guaranteeing every adult the right to make decisions about their own life. It means you get to choose where you live, who you're with, and what happens to your own body.
