FALL OF FREEDOM

NOVEMBER 21 & 22, 2025

www.falloffreedom.com
Mostly it hurts organizing people. The rest is shame for thinking others thought the same.
In the last five years I've also rightly learned no one gives a shit about organizing they can't see, even when that organizing is not for any kind of spectacle. Debord was right. It hurts.
Maybe the only thing I've learned in the last two decades is that art's ideals need to be connected to politics.
It's even more cynical to think about the promotional boost everyone in that Times photograph got for organizing others. Think "Pictures Generation" but a little more active.
My sadness about this lineup is a few people are missing. The progressive fault lines in the art world are very obvious when you know the terrain and other people doing the work.
Also deeply relieved Fall of Freedom is not a new podcast series by a person interested in events.
My favorite Fall of Freedom event so far is its coverage in the @nytimes.com and how its very existence must disturb the publisher and editorial staff. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/14/a...

It's the ideological extension of the Executive Branch. Little to no hope here.
The prologue of Garland's "Civil War." I guess he figured we'd know how the events in the film started.

I must have been listening to an aggrieved millionaire talking about leaving Bushwick to establish legal residency in Ohio so he could live in Mexico City.

If you’re based in NYC consider becoming a member of the Francis Kite Club, a really special cultural and political bar/space in lower Manhattan. We need grassroots uncensored spots that are actually a pleasure to be in!

It's particularly appalling when the President says turn that military on our own people and cities.
It is outrageous that the United States spends more on its military than the next 9 countries combined.

Imagine if we stopped spending half of the nearly $1 trillion Pentagon budget and invested it in healthcare, education, and housing instead.
