New coinage from The Downballot Discord: "margin bro."

Definition: A polling analyst who only looks at the margin between the top two choices and ignores undecideds. Mildly pejorative.

Usage:

"The Dem is at -5 favorability!"

"He's at 20% fave, 25% unfave, 55% don't know. Don't be a margin bro."

I shocked people think this was even a question? Zohran clearly had to cash in a lot of favors to get so much so quickly. This being the most obvious price-to-play.

This is why I said Leftists can’t hold power because they can’t compromise. Zohran is actually governing, this is what it takes.
NEW: Mayor Mamdani is set to endorse Gov. Hochul’s reelection run this week, providing her a critical inroad with progressive voters, per four sources.

It deals a near fatal blow to Antonio Delgado's campaign.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to endorse Gov. Kathy Hochul
The endorsement, expected this week, gives Hochul a critical inroad with left-leaning voters.

In Minneapolis, masked federal agents, dressed as soldiers, have fatally shot two American citizens. Both were victims of an occupation.

The lurid fantasy at the heart of the gun rights movement is playing out, but the leading roles, as they were previously imagined, have been reversed.
Minneapolis is the violent reckoning the gun rights movement has long wanted

I taught a class on “hope” last year and the few theorists who’ve written on it all point out that hope is the harder choice - that despair is easy and too often fashionable
Too many people on Bluesky think that relentless expressions of despair are a sign of intellectual sophistication.

Seeing all the “professional” activists go after Stancil is negatively polarizing me into a stance that Minnesota is winning because it’s normal people rising to the occasion and pushing a lot of activist nonsense out of the way by doing it

Good to see that many Dem elected officials now want to be seen getting involved in the cases of immigrants who have been wrongly detained by ICE.

Let's spare a word for @vanhollen.senate.gov, who did this for Kilmar Abrego Garcia back when wise pundits said this was politically dangerous.

Epstein’s economic power among academics was made possible by a capitalist system that makes higher education dependent on the charity economy rather than a public good supported by taxing the rich

If it hadn’t been for MeToo, way too many of these Epstein names would have still been Democrats. Republicans welcomed them with open arms.

We have a LOT of Dems to replace. We can’t do it all in 1 voting cycle.

I’m no expert, but it seems to me like our biggest personal payback will come from a LOCAL focus, supporting the state reps, Congresspeople & Senators WE ACTUALLY WANT instead of just shitting on the people who are there now.

The “illiberal Left” is not a real threat to America, they don’t make up nearly enough people to do anything. But they are really annoying on the internet.

Remember when Trump sat next to the Prince of Saudi Arabia and when questioned about the American journalist that was literally chopped into pieces, and Trump said “These things happen.”

Yeah that was like two months ago.

I don’t really understand why we need ICE in America when they already passed the Lakin Riley Act, requiring local police departments to turn over undocumented immigrants who commit minor infractions to ICE.

strange to me that a lot of people on this website simultaneously agree that the administration is run by incompetents who struggle to carry out their agenda without major political blowback AND that they’ll pull off a complex and sophisticated effort to rig elections and prevent defeat in November

CBP are America’s IDF but we aren’t ready to admit that.
16-year-old José Rodríguez was walking down a street in Mexico in 2012 when U.S. Border Patrol agent Lonnie Swartz shot at him 16 times. Rodríguez’s body was riddled with ten bullets, eight in his back.

Swartz, who claimed the child threw rocks across the border wall, was acquitted of murder.

Beyond the “gotcha” response. I’ve found it a lot easier to explain these events as weather systems. You wouldn’t run a car in our house. Well, all the cars running at the same time during the day creates a weather system that moves North in the winter, dislodging globs of cold air from the arctic.
*every fucking winter*

This continues to be a problem across the whole internet. We are unable the restart conversations with new people but instead carry over our frustration from other arguments and then find ourselves snapping at the people who bring us bad news.
Me outlining the conclusions the tribunal reached is not me endorsing them. Especially when I emphasised repeatedly that this is a first instance decision and non-binding. I'm really not sure what more I can do to make my position on this clear - it has quite literally been my entire life since FWS.
