61 countries joined #3C statement to mark the 30th anniversary of the World Programme of Action for #Youth, a landmark global framework for the development and empowerment of young people, and the 10th anniv of the UNSC resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security.

At #2C general debate, Portugal reaffirmed its commitment to the sustainable development pillar of the 🇺🇳UN Charter. In a time of rising tensions, we must defend multilateralism to achieve the global goals. Portugal will contribute as co-facilitator, negotiator and partner.

As we mark 25 years of #UNSCR1325, Portugal reaffirms its commitment to the #WPS agenda through its National Action Plan — integrating gender perspectives in foreign policy, peacekeeping & development. As UNSC candidate (2027–2028), we will work to turn WPS promises into reality.

At UNGA veto debate, Portugal stressed need for cease-fire in #Gaza, unimpeded resumption of #humanitarian aid and release of hostages. We welcomed President Trump initiative to end conflict & further implement the Two State Solution, in line with Portugal recent recognition of State of Palestine.

At event on International Day of Older Persons, Portugal recalled adoption of Action Plan for Active and Healthy Ageing, and the National Integrated Continued Care Program.

Portugal reiterated support to a new legally binding instrument to protect and promote the #HumanRights of older persons.

Portugal remembered the mass displacement of over 1.1M Rohingya as the #humanitarian crisis deepens. Lasting peace cannot be achieved without tackling the root causes of discrimination and ending impunity. We fully support ASEAN's central role in resolving the crisis in #Myanmar.

Amb. Rui Vinhas chaired today his final meeting of the #UNGA Sixth Committe today, handing over the gavel to the new representative of the Philippines, who was appointed as Chair-elect.
