The restrictive measures against those responsible for “Russia’s destabilizing actions abroad” have been extended, the Council of the European Union announced on Friday. The sanctions remain effective until 9 October 2026 following Russia’s “hybrid activities,” including Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference against the EU, member states, and partners. In a statement, the council noted that the measures currently apply to 47 individuals and 15 entities, who face a travel ban that prohibits them from entering or transiting through EU territories.

The convoy of former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, was attacked on Friday, by political thugs while leaving a wedding ceremony in Argungu, Kebbi State. A 51-year-old married man identified as Moses Abraham, has been arrested by the police in Jos, Plateau State, for beating his lover to death after catching her with another man. Bandits have reportedly killed a pastor, Rev. James Audu Issa of the Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, abducted since August this year. A 60-year-old American woman, Jacqueline Bolling Elton, has died in Warri, Delta State. She was said to have given up in the house of a 39-year-old man, Alawode Olaide, her boyfriend, who she came from America to visit.
