"After tomorrow," he pants into Aventurine's mouth as they hurriedly strip each other, fumbling in their eagerness, "you n' I should go on a little trip somewhere. Celebrate."
He laughs. "Sounds like a honeymoon," he jokes. His heart isn't in the tease. He never planned to get caught; he'll have no reason to run. Does that count as a betrayal? To go back to his job? Pretend like this never happened?
Boothill's grin is downright nasty. "Real shotgun wedding," he says. "Emphasis on the shotgun."
Another bubble of more genuine laughter spills from Aventurine's throat and into a bruising kiss that Boothill gives him. "Sounds like fun," he gets out when he's released. And it does. It does. He'd love nothing more than to shirk every responsibility, liquidate every asset, and go off on some crazy, never-ending holiday with him.
He doesn't think he'll be capable of it. This is the culmination of his entire life. He's not even sure the Mother Goddess will keep him alive after he's accomplished this. And if she does... doesn't that mean he isn't finished yet?
