THIS is the RIGHT response, Kit.

Reliance on 'experts' ISN'T based on 'trust'

- it flows from reliable EVIDENCE demonstrating their expertise...
You're being PLAYED, Kit

- 'kneejerk' ridicule is part of the 'Barnum Process' that RFK's operating.

If your preference for 'expert' surgeons is really based on TRUST, what's their Royal College for...? Or the BMA...? I guess we could just abolish both of those elitist institutions...

I'm reminded of Walter Vincenti's book What Engineers Know, which candidly unpacks, to showcase NACA expertise, the story of an unusual wing profile used during WW2 to support the B-24 Liberator long-range bomber.

Instead, he provides an object lesson in 'having all the data and missing the point'.

A future with REALISTIC Aerodynamics in it will be so much more able to take itself seriously, step up to the challenge of making Society a harmonious and supportive resource, and protect the environment everyone's future depends upon...

The 'insanity' baked into 20th Century Aerodynamics is a particularly CLEAR instance of a wider problem for Science

- the assertion of ridiculous 'proven facts' as exciting Scientific knowledge when they're merely codswallop that may APPEAR justified when draped in the camouflage of ornate math.

The REALLY wild thing is that air isn't even the best coolant

- it's just abundantly available in a Flight situation.

Helium's way better, and you only need a TINY thin 'film flow' of coolant bathing the parts. Even in your time, flow management is SO sophisticated that the gas can be RECOVERED...
It's not ridiculous; it's HISTORICAL. Prior to World War Two, and even some way into it, it wasn't clear WHICH SIDE the USA would fight for, if drawn into a 'european dispute'.

A significant number of Americans STILL think their nation made the wrong choice. (AND lost its own Civil War, too...)
Unfortunately, his technique WORKS

- as demonstrated by the comments here, and even your own response to his remark.

Do you REALLY think Science relies on TRUST...? If so, what does snake-oil selling rely on; and how can we tell the difference...?

Setting up a 'trust contest' is Flim-Flam 101...

Of all the places to pilot driverless cars in Europe, who decided that LONDON was a good idea? There's no way(mo) this will work with the weird streets.
And why would we step in a driverless car when we have cabbies with scientifically proven big brains? (citation:) www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-...
Brain changes seen in cabbies who take 'The Knowledge'
The structure of a London taxi driver's brain changes during the gruelling process of learning the quickest way around the capital, scans have revealed.

'The Power of the Vortex'

23/n:

The ILLUSION of air 'flowing' backwards past a vehicle that's moving forward through it IS POWERFUL

- but like the tornado that carried Dorothy 'over the rainbow', POWERS of the kind attributed to the air swirling after an aircraft are no more than FEVER DREAMS...

Often blamed on Leonardo Da Vinci, the principle that an object moving through air and air flowing past a stationary object are mathematically IDENTICAL has become central to Aerodynamics because it implies that air is all you need to move, in order to study either scenario, or both.

Will that EVER happen

- without a Scientific Revolution to put 'values' ahead of 'authority' and 'hierarchy'...?
Can you find Vision Express without glasses...?
Can you burn both apps, and acquire new instances of each, without losing any material...?
Moving BEYOND the bizarre notion that air flowing past an object and an object moving through air are really THE SAME EVENT seen from different 'relative positions' will OPEN UP a vast new landscape of rational Aero discovery.

Reality is out there, waiting to be PROPERLY understood.

Imagine a world like this one, but where Aerodynamics took an odd turn at the start of the 20th Century

- leading to Aviation that's workable, but severely limited by a poor understanding of the principles behind Flight.

Science Fiction...? No, it's the REALITY of your world, in your time: 2025.

But here's the thing:

Engines DON'T 'belong' on a wing.

The determined quest to make them work well there is a major contributor to mechanical woes for engines and airframes alike

- as well as making the engine LESS EFFECTIVE at moving an aircraft, and AMPLIFYING problems if anything goes wrong.
Inflatable Frog Jig

- with a bouncy enough tune, it could take off...

Someone left a rack full of inflatable costumes near the ICE building in Portland.

I love this town.

This is a wonderful thread that explains how & why Portland is Like This.

No, I have no idea.

So tell me, what DO squid seat...?
Wear AIR to save your City and Democracy...
For those who don’t get it. Dressing as frogs takes away their narrative that the left protesting is violent.
We take away their power. We use humor and highlight their absurdity. The primary goal is to mock and undermine claims by officials, like Donald Trump
