🎥 The third video in our Voices from Sudan and Jordan series is out

In one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, Mohamed Kamal, Director of Plan International Sudan, shares what gives him hope: the resilience of young people who keep dreaming despite conflict & displacement.

The #GlobalGateway will only deliver real impact by investing in people as much as in infrastructure. As president of Rwanda @paulkagame.bsky.social put it, true partnerships create value — not dependency.
These points were raised by AU Chairperson João Lourenço, who highlighted the need for training and education programmes for Africa’s youth, and by G20 President @cyrilramaphosabsky.bsky.social,
who called for called for stronger health systems and greater equality and inclusion.
🔵On 6 Oct, Jessica Vidales Ferro of LAC RMD Coalition, was in Brussels presenting preliminary findings on Latin America’s displacement crisis to @espanaenue.bsky.social
and joining a roundtable with @voiceeu.bsky.social
to discuss how #EUfunding can address this urgent challenge.
Since 2011, #DGECHO has supported safe and inclusive education in several regions of #Sudan. This support has been vital, but given the scale of the conflict, more help is needed to reach children who still lack access.

🎥The second video in our Voices from Sudan and Jordan series is out.

Sudan faces a worsening humanitarian emergency, with millions of children caught in conflict and displacement.

Mohamed Kamal, Plan International Sudan Director, shares how support can help keep education going even in crisis. ⬇️
🎥 We’re happy to launch our new video series: Voices from Sudan & Jordan

🌍 In the first video, Mohamed Kamal, Country Director of Plan International Sudan, shares the harsh realities children face, and the risks for girls & young women in the world’s largest displacement crisis.

Watch below ⬇️
➡️The EU recently recognised #Sudan as the world’s most devastating humanitarian crisis, with over two thirds of its population, 30 million people, in need of assistance.

❗Europe must push for direct talks, a #ceasefire, and an end to #HumanRights violations.
Sudan faces the world’s largest displacement crisis.
Last week, Mohamed Kamal, Plan Sudan Director, met the DG ECHO and DG INTPA teams in Brussels to call for urgent EU action to protect children, girls & women.

🔵🌍Last week, we had a productive meeting with DG ECHO and Hamida Jahamah, Country Director of Plan Jordan, to discuss the situation and prospects for return of Syrian refugees in Jordan, and to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
But promises alone aren’t enough.

@planeu.bsky.social calls on the EU to use its power & resources to end violence, Ensure life-saving aid and lead on recovery & reconstruction.

Europe can -and must- do more. ⬇️
Children must be at the centre of Europe’s response.

Von der Leyen called for the return of every abducted child in Ukraine & urged the EU to step up in #Gaza: “Man-made famine can never be a weapon of war. For the sake of the children—for the sake of humanity—this must stop.” ⬇️
Earlier today, President @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu
delivered her first #SOTEU address of the new mandate at a time when armed conflicts, climate shocks, and a deepening crisis of trust are reshaping Europe’s future. ⬇️

Important talks with the Cabinet of @martakos.ec.europa.eu on how to place children at the heart of EU enlargement, where we put forward proposals like making child care reform an accession condition, and providing predictable support to countries.

EU enlargement must deliver for children too. 💪

The AU-EU Ministerial Meeting showed progress, but the needs of girls in crisis were left largely unaddressed.

Girls and young women deserve the power to shape outcomes. This is an essential step for impactful, sustainable, and just solutions.
