I work on and write about design systems. Purveyor of fine typos.

I keep getting this idea to create AI slop mirror articles on a corner of my blog to get AI crawlers to index with hilariously bad information.

Why are we hiring so many designers?

I analysed 256 design system roles. The ratio of designers to engineers was telling. In my last team, we deliberately ran the inverse. If the biggest value comes from code, are we building design systems or just designing them?
Is There Too Much Design in Design Systems?
Why are we hiring so many designers? Most design system roles are design-focused, but the biggest value comes from code. Are we building design systems, or just designing them?

Made a lil' library:
codepen.github.io/slideVars/

Automatically detects CSS custom properties on the :root/html and gives you controls for adjusting them. (But it's also as configurable as you want it to be.)

Hey all you design system peeps–question for y'all.

What would you say is the most important open source design system project right now? Also, which ones need the most help/support?

There's going to need to be an exhaustive litigation of the many, many laws that are being broken. Big boy/girl sentences need to be doled out.

And it'd probably be worth revisiting how pardons work while we're at it.

The 2026 news cycle is somehow more stupid than 2025.

Man, if you thought naming in design systems already was important, it's only going to get more so from now on. Seeing how much LLMs assume/project meaning to something based on its name is *bonkers*.

After reading this, I am compelled to share it.

It has me thinking quite seriously about the photos I am willing to share, which I’ve already been very intentional about.

No one should have to go through this, no one should be allowed to use any technology to do this.
I‘m discontinuing my social media use for the foreseeable future and I want to explain why.

I woke up in the new year to discover that some guy on here had saved photos I took on New Year’s Eve and used Grok to remove my clothes. I know this because he showed me.

Hey @figma.com, explain to me why certain REST API features are only available behind the Enterprise pricing tier. Explain why we have to pay more per license for a feature that obviously will not be used by more than 1-2 people in an org.

Why can't this be an add-on feature paid independently?

They’re skeptical.

Is it just me or has Dropbox desktop syncing reliability degraded? I'm having frequent issues with conflicts and general file system shenanigans. I'm close to canceling my subscription.
