The conditions described in this article aren't unique to Venezuela, is it our duty to topple every dictator on the planet? The whole article reads exactly like what was pushed on us after 9/11 except without a clear reason why Americans should care.
It is frustrating to live in a world where the people in charge think they crushed it because they made the stock market go up continuously so if anyone invested their surplus income they would be doing well but the world continues to fall apart because they forgot most people need to spend money.

A childhood with my face buried in science fiction books did not prepare me for a present where society cannot seem to imagine a better future anymore and wants to drag us back to a heavily flawed past. The present has enormous potential for all humans but it feels like we aren't allowed to want it.

Facebook (and Google if my YouTube ads are any indication) is pouring money into organized crime in plain view. Based on my family history that's likely our parents grandparents retirement funding criminals all over the planet.

I think the "its the divine right of rich people to abuse poor preteens" message is actually the one the right is clinging to but they have enough awareness not to scream it from every rooftop as they usually would.

The current crop of octogenarians had so much to work with but chose to yearn for a time when the US was oppressing Asian and South/Central American countries as a side hustle. I hope when microplastics make my generation insane in our 70s it's more Barbarella or Sleeper than The Fountainhead.
