My name is Elena, and I create joyful urban illustrations inspired by the places I visit with my family. I’m from Madrid and have lived in Paris, London, and NYC—now calling D.C. home. I use ink, watercolor, colored pencils, and gouache, and I love painting on location whenever I can.
I’m working on another Northern Lights series! Painting them in watercolor is always so much fun — you never quite know how they’ll turn out until the very end.

My first painting in a while! I started with one of my favorite subjects — cute houses. My parents visited Iceland last month and sent me so many photos. I loved the contrast of the red house against the green landscape, the dark volcanic sand, and the white snow.
I’m so excited to share something new: my Bryggen illustration is now available as a woven blanket!

Woven in North Carolina by FiberArt, and available now in my shop! pintalustika.etsy.com/listing/1864...
The weather in Puerto Rico changes every minute. It can go from sunny and full of color to stormy in an instant. This was the view from the beach walk in Esperanza. We got completely soaked on our way home 💦 😅

Spring Break with my family in Puerto Rico. Sketch of Caracas Beach between swims. This place is so beautiful!

My top seller this week! 🌸🌸🌸 It’s almost peak bloom for the gorgeous cherry blossoms in D.C., but one will be dearly missed: Stumpy. This beloved tree was removed last year due to the work to address flooding at Tidal Basin. I painted this watercolor based on a photo I took during its last bloom.
This watercolor of the Manhattan Bridge from Dumbo is done. I took the reference photo on a very cold January day, and the street was empty. I decided to keep it that way and I actually like the peaceful feeling of it.

Art prints of my watercolor painting of the New York City skyline are now available in my Etsy store! I really enjoyed painting this one. I may do a collection of skylines this year. pintalustika.etsy.com/listing/1862...

I enjoyed painting these Parisian buildings so I created a Spring version. Again I used the kuretake paints which are a mix between watercolor and gouache.

Painting my favorite city with a limited palette using the Kuretake Gansai paints.

I took a class about nocturnes with Katie Woodward. I enjoyed learning new color combinations and practising how to capture light at night. #watercolor #nightpainting #painting
My husband loves Brooklyn and this is one of his favourite views of the city. He has been closely following the process of this painting and he says it is perfect. He is saying we need a brownstone there with this view 😂 Back to reality, I’m going to scan it and print it in a big size for our house.
Painting this watercolor of Park Guell was a great way to travel to Barcelona. It brought memories of walking through the park and taking in the city views.

Swann Street in the fall. I started this watercolor painting in the fall but got busy with other projects. I finally went back to it and tried to paint the ginkgo trees in a loose style.
One of my favourite buildings to paint: Brooklyn brownstones!

Painting this one loosely, adding Neocolor crayons over a watercolor base.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review of my calendar: The images are beautiful! I was just looking for a charming calendar with prints from a real artist, and this is beyond beautiful! I lived in Finland for a few months, so these watercolors of nordic style homes stood out to me, and the prints look even better in person
This is my piece for the weekly drawing challenge on emmablockillustration’s Patreon. I painted it with watercolors and added some texture with colored pencils, following my goal of incorporating more mixed media and playing with my art supplies.
