I work 50 meters from a lab where they recently identified a body recovered from a GPR search. A child who died at residential school, and was finally returned to their family.

Trans people are being challenged, misgendered and harassed whether they use a facility that aligns with their sex assigned at birth, or not. Many gender non conforming women also report more challenges in gendered spaces.

We have been tracking people’s experiences with gendered spaces and our new report looks at the impact of the 2025 EHRC interim update on access to, and experiences within, gendered spaces in the UK.

In 2025, men made up 57% of the workers who say they are juggling both paid work and caregiving. In 2023, women made up 56% of worker-caregivers. The shift is likely due to women leaving the paid workforce altogether.
