Gah this is so ahistorical. You can see old diagrams of racist breakdowns of facial features etc where Irish people are grouped in with Black people as being “less evolved”.

Obviously that changed but it really drove home that whiteness is a CONSTRUCT for me

Partially because it allows for a bit of both. The planned ending and need for specificity that she calls for helps me a lot with brainstorming, then I still feel like I have a lot of flexibility to flesh out scenes or to realize “oh shit this is actually what needs to happen”

I used to be a hardcore pantser (that’s how I learned to overcome years-long writers’ block was just to NOT THINK) but revision then took waaaay too long

I’m still kinda experimenting with what works but I’ve been broadly using the Story Genius method and I like it -
