Just made another Bara Brith. It always turns out delicious and everyone likes it.
My Xmas cake on the other hand doesn’t get eaten. They don’t like marzipan or icing.
I have a cunning plan! Dried cranberries in my next Bara Brith and a Santa 🎅 on the top!

Bara Brith 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 which translates to Speckled Bread.
Made this morning. It’s in my cake tin covered in baking paper left open for the photo. The tin lid is on the table and seems to match my wipe clean tablecloth colours. Greys and yellows.

On 21st of October 1966, 116 children and 28 adults were killed in the horrific Aberfan disaster, caused by the failure of the National Coal Board.

Today, we remember those who lost their lives and stand with the community of Aberfan now and always.

Never again.

Home made tomato sauce . One for the freezer and the other for the fridge!
Lots of garlic from my neighbours garden and thyme sprigs.
All roasted with black pepper and salt flakes.
Yum! 😋

Pretty tray of tomatoes cut in half on baking paper. Thyme sprigs and garlic cloves with S&P

Roasted and cooled. Then blitzed in a glass bowl ready for the fridge or freezer.
Makes a wonderful bright orange colour.

Coming along nicely!

Two sealed glass jars with sloe berries at the bottom and gin turning a lovely ruby colour.
I’ve been turning each jar over and in its side every day for 7 days. Now I’ll be doing that weekly until it’s ready to drain the sloes out.
Sloe Gun may be ready for Xmas.

Pumpkins 🎃 everywhere so why not make soup.

Monday morning energy!

Pumpkin Soup in a saucepan on the stove top. This is before it’s blended. Lumps of pumpkin, carrots, potatoes and onion.
It’s been cooked with coconut cream from a can and vegetable stock.
I used fresh Ginger, fresh garlic and ground turmeric, cumin, coriander, black pepper and salt flakes and chilli flakes.

Blended pumpkin soup. It’s a glorious yellow colour.
I did roast the pumpkin in chunks in the oven for 25mins. I drizzled them with olive oil and S&P.
They nearly didn’t make it into the soup. Yum!

Two portions in the fridge and three in the freezer.
There! I’ve peaked for a Monday morning!

9-yr-old Ukrainian Sasha Paskal has won gold&bronze medals at the All-Ukrainian Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition "Black Sea Cup"

In the summer of 2022she was seriously injured by a Russian strike and underwent a leg amputation

Sasha didn’t give up.She went through rehabilitation
