there's a bit in Tomino's Zeta novels where he mentions that a "newtype connection" is very similar to, but not *quite*, the sensation of "being in love". In specific he is talking about Four and Kamille here but this is also what compels me about Char and Amuro. what if we understood each other (as peers on the battlefield) but we also Understood each other (newtype bond) but also this kind of feels like being in love even though we're not. and also we're both boys haha,
