A plant nearly 900 km offshore 🌊

#Cryptantha stylosa is endemic to Isla San Ambrosio, a tiny island far west of central #Chile. Long treated as a taxonomic outlier, it turns out to be a striking example of long-distance dispersal in #Boraginaceae. @phytokeys.pensoft.net

A taxonomic revision of the genus Mullein (𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘮) on the Arabian Peninsula recognizes 17 species. 𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘮 𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘮 is newly described, and 𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘮 𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘶𝘮 is newly confirmed for the peninsula’s flora.

New insights into the hornwort genus Phaeoceros in Asia, morphological and molecular data fully supported the recognition of two subgenera: Phaeoceros and Himalayanus. Two new species of subgen. Himalayanus, P. aequatus and P. stenothallus, were also described.
