Newsom's been a bit of a pandery dick on social issues trying to play both sides since 2024 but I think having his state nearly ripped away and basically couped has made him finally, FINALLY embrace liberalism without compromise. Hopefully he'll solidly stand against Trump's cult.

Again, the reason is rely on a callous regime to enforce it. Your courts refuse to go after your dictator that breaks the law, it targets a comedian. An asshole one, but they could just as easily themselves target blacks and asians that make jokes about their own races and whites and the disabled.
