TIL that when you forget you've got a box of birthday chocolates in your bag and you leave it out in the full sun for a while, it is in fact possible to eat the results with a spoon.
Arrived in Exmouth, Western Australia, where even the locals are complaining about the heat.

Delighted about this reminder of a John Noakes special.

Great excitement as the England cricket team are spotted at the airport heading for Brisbane.

Having taken a train going to High Wycombe I'm now on a plane whose destination is Exmouth.

Happy St Katherine's Day to all scholars, librarians, and Katherines. May you win an argument against an annoying man today, in the true spirit of Katherine herself.

After a 4 hour flight across 3 time zones I'm still in the same country. Now in a little hole in the wall Chinese restaurant in Perth. Lots of disappointed looking Brits about the place.

Love the fact that the listing for the Marrakech house in 2.4 acres feels the need to specify that it's 'Detached'.
Stop whatever sensible thing you're doing and curl up with the Rightmove Roundup immediately. We've got a peeling old mansion flat in Bloomsbury, a shack by the river Douro in Portugal and a luxury Neapolitan mansion overlooking the sea: heawood.substack.com/p/its-a-cosy...

Train home delayed, it was too good to be true after all.
Off to Melbourne today on an actual train and not a rail replacement bus.

Glad to see the England men's cricket team have ensured that everyone will have buggered off out of Perth by the time I get there on Tuesday.
Just discovered I arrive in Perth next week on the last day of the first test of the Ashes. I know nothing about cricket but I know this is a thing. Luckily booked my hotel a while ago.

Like the song said, 'everywhere you go, always take the [rail replacement bus service] with you.'

This evening I went into battle against an over-tired toddler, with my lethal weapon of singing 'There was an old man called Michael Finnegan' on repeat.

I was eventually victorious against the relentless foe.

Just realised this is referring to a church in North Carolina and not the Welsh singer

Brought home how expensive UK postage has become when I paid $3 yesterday to send a post card to the UK. To send one the other way is £3.40.

Also, @susiedent.com could have their Dictionary Corner guy for brekkie.
"Letters and Numbers* though. I feel they could have done slightly better than that in the rename.
TIL that in Australia Countdown goes by the name of Letters and Numbers and has slightly different music, but is otherwise identical.

Raise my council tax. Just fucking do it. From a disgruntled Durham resident.
Looking forward to the “Reform’s war on motorists” headlines.
