With customisable feeds and lists how much reposting is needed?

It’s a different era when you can create your algo and feed experience (mutes, filtering, inversions).

Your profile has a RSS-feed and can be bridged to Fediverse (e.g. Mastodon).
It works but first you have to play Minesweeper.
They still have sync issues?

I had a bad case of non-linear drift of audio three years ago.

Hi, I am starting the process of closing the blueskyfeeds.com feed service in early July. I am having difficulty dealing with site outages, issues with the firehose, ballooning cloud operating costs, and blocking users trying to 'stress test' with feeds that store every post (you know who you are).
And never do the 3rd time to disprove the hypothesis and avoid extra coding trouble

After a court order by the Turkish government, Bluesky made accounts unavailable for Bluesky users in Turkey this week.

I take a closer look at geographic-based moderation works on Bluesky and atproto, how it can be sidestepped, and much more

Bluesky, censorship and country-based moderation

I have a random thought about all of this and Elon. In Walter Isaacson's book (as noted by @davekarpf.bsky.social), he tells the story of Elon constantly going all in. davekarpf.substack.com/p/elon-musk-...

aint that the rub. "We want a chronological app with no ads just photos!".
"OK, here you go"
"It's a bit boring".
I'm not sure what the middle ground is, but I like the ethos behind Foto and hoping they find their feet.

Bsky's DAU as measured on the firehose is currently 2.4M

This measures only active users who like/post/follow someone. Paul's number includes people who log into the app/site but do not otherwise engage.

So ~40% of active users do not like/post/follow

Meta’s feed content is just filling the space between ads
Meta’s army of AI-powered “users” includes this “fiercely loyal mom” who bills herself as the “realest source for life’s ups and downs.”

The account was created in Sept. 2023, and has more than 1,300 followers (although how many may be fellow bots, who knows?).

Ed Conway goes looking for materials we have run out of—and retires the series after one post, because he can't find any.
