Mostly moths, but then there'll be leafmines and bees and craneflies and..... well, easily distracted by wildlife.

I would be too! I thought I'd done well last night with 26/16 😁

Exactly, I mean, what the heck! Had one about 6 weeks back that I thought was late, but this one .....

Quite a line up last night with 16sp! Only 1s & 2s except the November moth crew. Lovely couple of Green Brindled Crescent, including a 2nd capucina 😊 A very late Muslin so surely they've had a 2nd ( 3rd even?) generation and another Rush Veneer

I accidentally put a saw through a nest last week! They weren't very pleased and let me know it! Got away quite lightly with just 2 stings. Fortunately I'm OK with wasp stings. Well, they hurt but thats it 🙂

Bonkers isn't it, happily so mind. 😁

Nice surprise this morning with Featgered Thorn and a Scarce Bordered Straw 😊

I had quite a few stettinensis and rajela last month, but so many leaves have beetle grazed it makes them harder to spot now!

Ive been looking a Lot at Alder lately although locally there's an awful lot of Alder beetle grazing.

Motorway embankments very under recorded 😉 good luck with the rescue.

Mine on Alder lower surface but with very fine creases rather than one single strong crease so think its Phyllonorycter klemannella. Another one with very few Staffs records showing. @vc28wildlife.bsky.social Hi Rob, could you take a look for me please 👍

Very wise, I was about 5 mins late! Followed the diversion sign. If I had I ignored it, i would have been there just in time to see them fly off! But definitely a return visit soon for a more rigorous check for pastorella.😁 birds are overrated anyway 4 to few legs to be really interesting 😉

Now yesterday, news came in of 8 White rumped sandpipers at Belvide. 20 mins away, very local patch. Brain went hmm, but there's lots of willows there too, might be pastorella, and that was the deciding factor!! No birds and no pastorella! Think moths have definitely overtaken birds by a long way! 😊

Thanks Rob, my targets for this autumn were extrematrix and pastorella but running out of poplars and willows to check, but had lots of others along the way 😊

Pretty sure I've got Phyllonorycter cerasicolella on Cherry here. Finding a few locally. Not many records in Staffs. @vc28wildlife.bsky.social Hi Rob do these look ok for cerasicolella please?
pertonmoths.bsky.social
Darn it, that's another one you'll probably beat me to 😉

Be nice if it rears out the right way ( hope Barry W, doesn't read this 😊)
pertonmoths.bsky.social
Might be agromyza? Aulagromyza tridentata is a possible i think ?
pertonmoths.bsky.social
Yeah, yeah, don't i just know it ! Im already googling dissection kits 😄
pertonmoths.bsky.social
Looks like it's got a crease, or is that the vein? 🤞 for pastorella, hoping it can make its way south now for me 😁
pertonmoths.bsky.social
Yeah, it was a bit of a double take when I turned the box over. Possibly the nicest GBC I've caught. 😊

But tantalising dangle that bit of hope to keep you going so they can crush your dreams again and again 😁
