Article in Dutch press about the TANGO cubesat mission for measuring CO2, NO2 and methane. TANGO is developed by KNMI, SRON, TNO and ISISpace. I am one of the two principal investigators for TANGO. nos.nl/artikel/2574...

Tropomi NO2 image of the plume of the fires near Marseille, France, as measured today in the early afternoon. Besides in NO2, the plume was also clearly visible in carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and aerosol data from Tropomi.

The #Tropomi data shows that a smoke plume of the Canadian wildfires is over France, the UK, Ireland, Belgium and The Netherlands. According to the Tropomi data, this plume is at an altitude higher than 9 km. @knmi.nl @copernicusecmwf.bsky.social @esaearth.esa.int

Smoke aerosols from wildfires in Canda were this afternoon observed over Europe (Ireland, UK, Denmark, Germany and Poland) with the Copernicus S5P Satellite. The aerosol layer over the North Sea was at an altitude of 5-6 km. @knmi.nl @copernicusecmwf.bsky.social #tropomi

It is amazing how much information we can obtain with satellites. This image shows a SO₂ plume from a volcano on the small remote island Ambae in the South Pacific, measured yesterday with #Tropomi. More than 15,000 km from where I live, yet we receive accurate information!

The #TROPOMI satellite instrument detected a large smoke plume from wildfires in #Canada on Wednesday, which on Thursday was over the North Atlantic.
