This is only useful and secure if you set it up with a contact who is both trustworthy and reliable. If your relationship changes with the contact, or the person can no longer help you with recovery, you need to be sure to remove or replace them in your account.

Google now lets you set up Recovery Contacts for your account. Add someone who you trust as a recovery contact. If you lose access to your Google Account, you can reach out to your recovery contact directly with a code that lets them confirm it’s really you.

* must be at least 1 year after channel termination
* Terminations for copyright infringement or violating Creator Responsibility policy aren't eligible
* Eligible channels must be approved

At the least it would have to mark all the videos with the synthetic content label. But I suspect it's a gray area, where they aren't impersonating exactly, because they disclose it's fan-created. But I doubt celebrities like their voices being cloned.

YouTube is updating its Medical Misinformation policy to enforce against content that “falsely claims tobacco or nicotine are not addictive or harmful”. Enforcement begins on October 20th.

AdSense for Content has a new traffic source breakdown report.

Sources: Bing, Facebook, FMKorea, Google, Instagram, Naver, TheQoo, X (Twitter), Yahoo, and YouTube.

Other traffic is Direct, Other, or Unknown.

It’s available for reports starting July 21, 2025.

You can use this breakdown to understand the origins of your page traffic. It categorizes traffic based on whether it arrived directly to your page, or from popular and classified platforms.

Values
Direct: Traffic that arrived at your page directly or there was no source specified.
Other: Other traffic sources that are not yet specifically classified.

YouTube has reorganized the comment moderation Settings on YouTube Studio desktop.
* The Community tab is now the Community Moderation tab
* There are sections for content controls, user management and channel guidelines.
The settings are the same, just better organized now.
