Wake Up Dead Man is a return to form in the Knives Out series.
Daniel Craig still excellent but it’s Josh O’Conner who arguably holds the film together.
Will say that wife guessed the killer relatively early on (or she at least claims she did, but I believe her). Not the with and how though.

Zootropolis 2 was a perfectly ok sequel to a movie I really enjoyed. Hoped for better but didn’t hate it. Chuckled a few times.

First part of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is done. Now in the intermission.
Volume One was always an incredibly tight movie. The extended animation is a nice add-on.

Who is next for the FIFA Peace Prize? Vladimir Putin? Benjamin Netanyahu?
Or maybe it will never be given out again. A terrible publicity stunt to appease a narcissist.
If it keeps going, guaranteed the Crown Prince gets it when it’s hosted in Saudi Arabia.

FIFA sucking up to fucking Trump is so fucking embarrassing. A guy who is sending folk to concentration camps and death prisons an ambassador for peace? Fuck right off.

If Netflix buy WB, cinema is gonna be pretty fucked.
Netflix’s limited release strategy is shite.
I have a cinema pass with one of the big chains in the UK. They don’t get Netflix films. I need to go to a rival to see the new Knives Out and I’ve a limited window to do that.

I wish the media would stop giving Nigel Farage the oxygen to spread his horrible racist conspiracies.
Stop reporting it and just ignore the little troll.
If you report racist assholery, it becomes part of the public discourse, and some people start to think that horrible views are reasonable.

Just watched ‘No Other Land’ just now and I am so fucking angry.
Not sure I could ever endure such cruelty. And let’s face it, nobody should ever have to endure such cruelty.

Saw 9 movies in the cinema last month.
Rather than a straight worst to best, I’ll break them into two groups.
Fun movies (from worst to best)
Now You See Me…
Wicked For Good
Bugonia
Predator: Badlands
The Running Man

Been playing Dark Quarter by LuckyDuckGames/VanRyderGames these last few weeks.
Enjoying the narrative. The writers have gone out of their way to ensure you know that this is an adult-themed game.
We’re on the last chapter and can’t help thinking we might have fucked it.
We’ll see in a week or two.

Not engaged with latest Stranger Things as my wife and I have been catching up with Revival (which is a tonne of fun).

This was genuinely one of the best moments from the #indyref when a guy in a rickshaw humiliated the Labour pols from London who came to tell us that we were better off being ruled from London.

Has any journalist ever corrected Trump on the fact that asylum seekers didn’t come from (and aren’t going to) asylums?
He keeps going on about immigrants coming from mental institutions and it’s plain to see that he’s deliberately associating one with the other.

‘I Swear’ was fucking brilliant. Think I’m emotionally fragile with all that’s going on at the moment but I fucking wept a lot.
Only spoiled by a couple who thought it was ok to give a running commentary throughout the whole fucking movie. Watch it at home you ignorant fucks!!!!!

Wicked For Good was decent but I think the tunes are stronger in the first film. Kind of ties up with my feelings on the stage musical so…

The Death of Bunny Munro is worth a watch even if the central character is a genuinely terrible person.
Haven’t read Nick Cave’s novel so not sure if it’s less depraved than the source or if it got the level spot on.
Heavy suicide themes throughout though, if that’s a trigger to avoid.

Really enjoyed The Running Man. My home city of Glasgow never looked so shit.

Have a lot of time for David Olusoga and the history programmes he does for the BBC. His latest, ‘Empire’ is a must watch.

Another ineffective treatment…
Feels like the cancer is slowly starting to win against my wife and I’m fucking stuck feeling helpless.
New chemo starts today. Crossing everything that it actually starts reducing things to give us as much time together as is possible.
Fuck cancer!

Might be a controversial opinion but I thought The Witcher season 4 was still pretty decent.
I’m not sure it’s ever been a truly top tier show but for this season my wife and I binged it over 2 or 3 days.

Great result for Scotland tonight even if we got jammy with that sending off.
Hoping our games are all in Canada and Mexico.

Shabana Mahmood was one of the names (alongside Wes Streeting) touted as a potential usurper/successor to Kier Starmer.
God help this country, who seems to have lost all sense of decency and compassion.

Two completely different movie going experiences this weekend. Now You See Me, Now You Don’t is unadulterated nonsense that I enjoyed but will likely forget in a week or two.
Die My Love was less fun but is undoubtedly the better movie. One that I’ll be thinking about for a lot longer.
November 16, 2025 at 9:59 PM
When the fuck did Wes Streeting become the darling of the Labour Party? He obviously likes being on the telly a lot but I’ve always thought that he was fucking rubbish.
