Here's a thread I plan to update periodically with how to find somewhat popular games from the Y2K era that are unlisted.

No One Lives Forever 1, 2, and Contract J.A.C.K.

Full games, compatibility with modern Windows built in, widescreen support, no-cd cracks applied.

I think I'd lobby the federal government to make a mandatory laser tag national holiday and then fund said holiday. Elaborate laser tag ordinance of all different types given to accomodate people of different abilities. Can't run? Cool, here's your own laser tag tank.

If you add it to steam, even non-steam games have community controller profiles as long as the game is named the same as whoever uploaded the profile. So if you rename the added non-steam game to "Ultima Underworld" I'm willing to bet there are some community configurations floating out there

Sounds fun! I'm down, although fair warning, my window for online gaming is incredibly slim due to constant interruptions from kids 🙃

Also, probably a dumb question but, is ps+ required for any of the non pvp stuff?

Oohhh. Funnily enough I logged in to destiny 1 last night for the first time in MORE years lol. No recollection of what was happening but the vibes are outstanding. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to have ever gotten a 60fps patch on playstation.

Man, I logged in to destiny 2 last night for the first time in years and was greeted by the toughest dungeon in the game: the menus.

I was mid-campaign when they deleted it, it was such a chore to just find the earliest available story content and jump in. When I found it, "launch" was disabled

I've played a few chapters and I'm really liking it. I honestly didn't expect to get so invested in the characters and their shenanigans but I'm all in. The gameplay shows some cracks after a bit but not in a way that feels detrimental to the overall experience.

I'm honestly not sure! Halo's been a 20+ year mystery for me. When I was younger I'd complain that it was overrated, but as I've gotten older and continued to give various entries new chances I'm able to recognize the smart aspects of its design. But for some reason it just won't click with my brain

I haven't read this piece yet, but doc's recent FPS posting inspired me to retry Halo 3*, a game I really didn't like in 2007. It wasn't particularly clicking once again- until the Flood shows up, and then everything since has been very enjoyable so far

*Do not buy Halo MCC or any Microsoft product

That's right. It's time for part 3 of the FPS series; this time, a lot of assorted thoughts on what makes for good enemy design. This one was fun as hell to write.

building a better first person shooter part 3: enemy mine
So! First, we talked about a specific subgenre of first person shooter, loosely starting with Unreal and Half-Life and dying off around…

Up until recently, the only big mod for Metal Gear Solid 5 was Infinite Heaven, a kinda 'everything and the kitchen sink' sandbox.

Seems a new heavy hitter is up. Definitive Subsistence, letting you play every mission as a dynamic OSP operation where each encounter's solution changes the next.

I totally forgot Fury Road was in 3D. I'm now recalling that it's one of the few 3D movies I saw during the fad that didn't annoy me with its implementation

It's funny, I only ever knew Starflight as a Genesis/megadrive game, and had never noticed until now that it predates the launch of that console by several years
