Het belangrijkste is goeie room en de beste bacon.
De term wordt al genoemd als Italiaans gerecht in een Nederlandstalig tijdschrift in 1933, dus voor de komst van Amerikaanse soldaten in 1944 die ingrediënten bij elkaar gooiden, zoals de lezing altijd is geweest. Of het recept ook hetzelfde was, is niet duidelijk.
