Rewatching kpop demon hunters again

Very cute moment: since it was made at the Sony Pictures Imageworks headquarters in Vancouver, the animation workers slipped in a reference to the city with the Skytrain door closing jingle at 54:50

In just a 3 hour drive from Vancouver to Seattle, you will cross 5-6 different regions traditionally ascribed to separate languages. This diversity is owed to the population density and defensibility of regional fjord & mountainous geography. It's why a trading pidgin creole, Chinuk Wawa, emerged.

To Northern Lushootsheed speaking Skagit people, Mt. Baker is known as Teqwúbe7 or "One who touches the sky"

This is also given to Mt. Rainier as the dialect is linguistically related to Southern Lushootsheed, of which Seattle is derived. Significantly h/o, "Tacoma" is taken from Teqwúbe7(təqʷubəʔ)

I think for Americans they will more often hear of the history imparted by the Lummi nation and the north straights Salish name of Qwú'mə Kwəlshéːn

It appears related to a Nooksack placename (of Lhéchelesem dialect), meaning "shooting place" regarding provision grounds in meadows before Mt Baker

This is history around Mt. Baker from the Halkomelem/upriver dialect speaking nations of Fraser Valley.
Curious thing about Mt. Baker is that since it's so prominent in a region across several distinct dialects and indigenous languages, there are several names and legends/history ascribed to it.

Re: Sto:lo, mt Baker is the husband of mt. Cheam

Lhílheqey was a woman who fell in love w/ a man from the south & had 6 kids w/ him. She longed for home &the great transformer, Xexá:ls immortalized her as Mt. Cheam to watch over the people of the valley.

(1st) Lhílheqey, (2nd) Kwelxá:lxw/mt. baker

Cute that many Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving today because it was brought into the dominion by United Empire Loyalists, refugee British colonists who rejected the US revolutionary republic. And it's celebrated a month before the US one because harvest comes earlier in the colder seasons.

Im being asked to rally support for a t*ron*o baseball team as a "canadian".

As a "pacific northwesterner" I won't rally for the s*att*e team either.
I hope they both lose.

Neo left the café time early to go lay down. I finish reading, head home, and find neo is all alone, in my apartment except for a cacophony of noise as they are simultaneously playing Zelda and watching tiktoks, nude in bed

I keep wanting to remind myself that maybe im in the minority of gamers and that maybe 60-70% of gamers just want manic collect-em-up matches to twitch stream and play competitively

But also chasing trends killed command and conquer under EA

Fucking there's a live service game I was playing and its just collectable documents that if you find it all its like redacted SCP stuff anf I just haven't read them at all cus its so tacked on im just like "cool 60 of 90 documents collected in my matches"

Been thinking alot of DayZ recently b/c games like player unknowns battleground & fortnite were inspired by the combat in DayZ, they just were designed to remove the hours between encounters in DayZ.. but i loved the tension, suspense and stealth inherent to DayZ that would make encounters memorable

I was young and stupid and easily spun up by hype and hate i feel lmao

Its funny cus I did enjoy other walking Sims at the time, I just felt i had to hate walking Sims cus they were sjw anti games or something
partyprat.bsky.social
Idk how viable either are for profit the way cosmetics, weapons, seasons etc works but I feel live service grindy type games make me feel like mobile games do. Feels like i focus on collectibles rather than anything substantial. I think alot about marathon b/c not much else rn excites me as that did

I like how in my 20s i fucking angrily dumped on "walking simulators" and other such unstimulating slow burns but now i love them. there's something so haunting with the new marathon's themes and world that it feels better served as something like stalker or, if necessarily multi-player, DayZ.

Something that gorgeous i just want to take my time in and marinate in the art and environment... I really dont find things like apex or the hunt appealing cus you're always pressed to run around, incentivized to not idle or take in the environment and get a threadbare drip feeder of story

Oh well.

>marathon is back

I just really wish something stylistically & narratively compelling like that were a single player game. Like I played maybe 20-40 hours of those kind of twitch live service match games each but I think I've sunk 500+ hours into death stranding & thats just a desire path simulator

LAPIS LIVES

The rumours of her death have been greatly exaggerated (engine swap and bathing in the oil of virgin sedans)
