Writing fiction about grief, grit, and legacy. A slow-burn urban thriller grounded in real emotion. Start with Chapter One ↴ https://www.karamslegacy.com/
Most chapters reveal the plot.

Chapter 14 revealed me.

I didn’t expect to feel fear while writing it.

Not horror, not jump-scare fear—

But the quiet kind.

The kind that whispers: you just touched something true.

Now it’s yours to read.

Just know: it changed the way I see the story.

Publishing fiction on Substack is a strange mix of hope, hustle, and hitting “send” into the void.

But that void spoke back. 19 readers deep.

That’s 19 people who chose my story over scrolling. Who met my characters and stuck around!

More chapters will drop soon. The world is still unfolding.

Most creators accidentally build clusters.

They write:

– “Why does my laptop overheat?”
– “How to cool it down”
– “How to clean your fan”

Want to make it intentional?

Start with the big question

Break it into Awareness → Exploration → Next Step

You don’t need fancy tools.

Chapter 1 truly challenged me.

Amir's a watcher, a peacekeeper. And in this moment, on a hot subway platform, he has to decide whether to act, knowing how it could go wrong.

I wrote it thinking about how hard it is to carry a badge and still hold on to your humanity.

Google is stealing your traffic.

And they’re doing it in 6 clever, shady ways.

The recruiter just asked about my “gap” between 2008 and 2017.

Resumes are meant to show your most recent relevant roles, not a full memoir.

Unless I worked at the same place for 17 years, why would I list everything?

My LinkedIn goes back to 2012.

The role asked for 5+ years of experience.

“I’m not ready to launch yet.”

I spent years starting and stalling.

Now I publish chapter by chapter on Substack—while raising a toddler and rebuilding my career.

It’s not polished. It’s not perfect.

But it’s moving. And that’s what matters.

“I don’t have the right setup to write.”

I’ve published chapters half-asleep, between toddler meals, and deep work blocks.

If the story hits, it hits.

Readers don’t care what your desk looks like.

People clown arranged marriages, but trust dating apps?
At least arranged marriages come with background checks.
Dating apps are just algorithms setting you up—with zero context.
Which one sounds riskier?

writing ritual:

1) Open haunted Victorian music on YouTube
2) Let the creepy piano kick in
3) Feel the chilling air roll over fictional NYC streets
4) Start typing like I’m suspicious of everyone, including my 3-year-old

Writing isn’t just plot and pacing.
It’s mood.

Mother’s Day spread

Got a cake for my wife. Took my 3-year-old with me—huge mistake.
She cried all day because she wanted cake now.
When my wife came home, my daughter ran up and said, “Happy Mother’s Day!”—my wife was overjoyed.
Then she followed it with, “Can we have cake? It’s in the fridge!”
Surprise = ruined.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom.
Yesterday, Amairah had ice cream and said, “It’s cold,” and I instantly thought of you.
You’d say the same when Dad tried to feed you, and he’d joke, “Want me to warm it up in the microwave?”
That always made you laugh.
Grateful for memories like that.

Do you ever just pause and think—man, it’s really nice out? Perfect weather to take the 3-year-old out for a bit. Grateful for days like this.

Do these 3 things today 👇🏽

Pray before chai. Start grounded.

Lower the bar—not because you’re lazy, but because you’re done chasing someone else’s idea of “success.” You’re here to pay the bills and make time for your family.

Because the goal isn’t hustle—it’s freedom.

I was terrified to publish the first chapter of my novel.

But today, it hit 100 views.

That’s 100 people stepping into a world I’ve been building for years.
100 pairs of eyes on a story that lived in my head far too long.
