Nerdery, art, rambling. Just a gsrden-variety weirdo trying to person in this messy reality.
My boss thinks sending a "thumbs up" reaction on Teams is kind of passive aggressive, so I stopped using it and changed it to a star.
Except today I'm irked so I have been deploying that 👍every which way at the team (but not at said boss).

Why is there a mockingbird putting on a performance at this time of night? It's nearly midnight, little fella

I saw an anteater skull today and I never really thought about that snoot being incorporated into the skull. Always kind of pictured them as being like elephant trunks or something.

Went to the Santa Ana Zoo today. I appreciate that the animals can be off exhibit if they want, but I wish more of them felt my Cool Quiet Observer Animal Friend vibes and popped out to say hi. Also I am interested to see how the new construction turns out.

Enjoy a giant anteater.

Time for some sub par photos of birds from my lunch break. It's a good day for it. #birding

'Why is this shirt so scatchy at the neckline? Why is it sitting so strangely on me? It's not like I put it on backwards."
Yes. Yes it is. That is exactly what happened. Not for the first time, and definitely not the last, but somehownit takes me 3-6 business days to figure it out each time.

How do I connect on this platform? This is the closest to screaming into the void. Then I don't post and make it worse, so it's a loop of yuck

It's International Asexuality Day. Is there a cake to celebrate?

I know I'm mishearing the lyrics of Elton John's "Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)" but I do like my version:

"Don't give us none of you aggravation
And hide away your Death Star plans!"

I want to scream. "He's old, you can't expect miracles."

I can expect him to go in for a routine procedure and come out healthier because that is the entire point.

I can expect a consistent set of instructions as all of the medical professionals are on one page.

IMPORTANT QUESTION: What is your favorite #dinosaur (or dinosaurs)? 🦕🦖
I'll go first; one of my favorites is kentrosaurus

The trick where people are adding in swear words to searches to bypass AI drivel from Google does work, but it's inevitably going to result in someone using it at work and pulling up some extremely NSFW results and I can't wait to laugh at that story when it happens.

I've started to see Pern stuff on my internets again and I'm really excited.

This is the gif du jour for me and my team today. By our powers combined, we might have one collective good night's sleep between us.

There is no reason for me to be this tired.
I feel like sleeping for a week

little pieces of language are ours

When people ask how those without access to systems of power might combat the rising fascist tide — think of graffiti. The radical orgs of the 70s knew this. It’s visible, it sticks in the mind, it establishes the presence of the speaker not as an individual but as a representative of the collective
I love this graffiti (in Minecraft)

Don’t lose hope. Remember, Watergate took over two years to fully unravel from the initial break-in to Nixon’s resignation. Just like then and now, Americans are losing faith in their government. We are documenting every illegal action and will hold this administration and Elon Musk accountable.

Here, I made this nice thing. This is the V-day equivalent of cosplaying a character nobody asked for. Have King Brian Connors from Darby O'Gill and the Little People.

Enjoy
