Oh for that I think Source is the right call! They have a sizeable kids' comics/graphics section, and curation clearly aimed at making things welcoming & inclusive.

There's always Source up in Roseville. I have been treated very well at Red 6 Games over on Grand, though it's a smaller shop. Haven't been to Level Up down on West 7th but the pictures look very cool.
