Thanks everyone for sharing this, I appreciate the support. Didn't think I'd be in this position this time last year, responsibilities don't stop just because someone you care about gets sick and it's tough.

Weird question but does anyone have £500 worth of work I could do to afford the other half of my rent? Something I can do while looking after someone else/in silence? Big ask I know. Any writing, editing, help with speeches, presentations, a course on overcoming anxiety, anything at all?

Ended up listening to "The Devils" audiobook, pleasantly surprised at it being one of the instances where a book is made better by the narrator.

My list up until now has been:
- Rivers of London
- Dungeon Crawler Carl
- Project Hail Mary
- Gideon the Ninth
- My mum reading me The Hobbit

Home for a couple of nights, my back is confused by not being pretzel shaped in the morning.

Four hour car journey in the morning so it'll be in familiar territory soon, already loaded up Rogue Protocol (Murderbot Diaries) and Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie audiobooks to keep me sane.

Are we sure it's "rapture" because it's far more likely that God is sending a Raptor to deal with all this. Ascension to heaven or crazed reptilian killing machine? Which do you think sounds more biblical?

Imagine god realising he made a mistake halfway through rapturing you haha! Can you imagine! Haha ridiculous!

Unrelated but does anyone know how to get down from an electrical pylon without pants? No reason but it is a bit urgent.

Chambers' and Pratchett's I've completed, absolutely wonderful recommendations and I'm so glad Long Way got recommended as it doesn't come up enough! Have you checked out the newer novellas from Chambers?

Awesome! A friend and I went and saw the Avatar movie and felt like silly children giggling every time someone very seriously said "I'm a bender"

I'm on book two (listening though) and love it, it even got me to check out the TV adaptation

I have AND I've listened to the audiobook which is one of the very rare times that the audiobook adds an excellent new level to the book. Fantastic recommendation thank you!

Awesome! Thank you! I've just looked it up and it's got some Trench Crusade vibes (something I'm enjoying being distracted by)

I read The Blade Itself and enjoyed it but it was years ago and now I'm worried if I go back to his stuff I'll miss things

Haha historical is fine, just an escapism preference. I tried Babel but it was too intellectual for my current mindset
