THIS IS MY PRECISE PROBLEM. i can take some pretty grisly media and i am not squeamish lol and even with the topics i block for, im not here to stop anyone! i just want to curate my experience. "dead dove" doesnt mean ANYTHING and if u use it in place of being accurate i wonder what are u hiding lol

it seems to be a more recent invention but idk for sure, i'm sure someone with more fandom lore in their noodle could confirm but that's where i noticed it popping up from. and it is very ironic bc i have to constantly mute ppl who are like "dead dove ahead!" THAT'S NOT A WARNING OF ANYTHING

yeah the dead dove stuff seems to specifically be american fandom terminology since it's derived from a scene in arrested development. i only learned abt it bc a lot of artists will use it but it is NOT helpful at all and i have been flashbanged by a lot of stuff before i did research lol

let's coexist together ❤️ tag your NSFW and tag your "dead dove" content with the actual tags you are engaging with and not simply using some sort of vague fandom slang that is so nebulous as to be useless to anyone actually attempting to curate their online experiences

"dead dove" encompasses a comically large amount of thing and it seems to cover both porn as well as just generally adult but nonsexual content. it is not sufficient enough of a CW, and if you ONLY warn for things in bio then i get jumpscared by shit on my feed i wouldnt have seen if u tagged for it

dead dove in and of itself is not enough of a CW, nor is a a cute little emoji of a bird and a tombstone in bio. u have to explicitly SAY what kinda DD content youre doing and you NEED to tag it IN YOUR POSTS THEMSELVES bc otherwise it is impossible to block for it consistently and avoid it 100%.
