In our house, we play pinochle, but got tired with teams being Mom and Thomas vs Dad and James. Now we each come up with compatible parts of speech. In tonight's game, the Micro Hampsters are beating the Apocolyptic Horse Flies.

If I had a time machine, I would pass on the monumental events in world history. Instead, I'd go to the #MinnesotaStateFair of the 1910s, or this building of the 1930s, or something similar. There are clearly the whispers of generations of people in this old building. #Minneapolis #Minnesota

Had a training in the #StKate's Old Main bldg in the Riverside Fairview campus in #Minneapolis. Long ago turned into meeting space and offices, it clearly once was an elegant living and classroom space with a lovely auditorium on the top floor. Made me nostalgic for a past I never knew. #Minnesota

You know that asparagus (probably all the veg in the "salad"} were boiled to death, and have little textural difference from the Jell-O that entombs them.

Mid-century architecture = fairly decent.
Mid-century cuisine = fairly... something else.

I do appreciate that that they do put on social backgammon events that are much more casual, and had a younger and more diverse crowd than I have generally seen at regular club events. They really are a great place to come learn the game.

The local club is full of very good players, but admittedly, the demographics tend to skew older and white. My being 47 definitely puts me on the young end of people who attend. It is still fun, to be sure, but maybe not reflective of the population as a whole. #Minneapolis #SaintPaul #StPaul

#Backgammon is a fantastic game that is easy to learn, but the depth of the game makes it endlessly entertaining. I learned when I was 7, and into adulthood thought I was pretty good, beating almost everyone I played... until I went to the local club and met people who are actually good.

Burning Man sweet potato #pie. I liked it better with a standard crust than with this Biscoff cookie crust. Sadly, the Man only stood up for a few moments, but I'm still happy with how it turned out.
