Ooof I get this! Sometimes people are friendly to me but I'm a little worried about getting close to them because I don't want them to think its just because of who they are or anything like that :(

Yeah!! It can be a difficult trap to fall into! It doesn't help the idea is pushed that you need to "collab" or be mutuals with people like that to get known, but then no one's gonna know you for you at that point!

Me too!! A lot of my longest-term friends in the space, I met when we were similar audience size and we grew together. Some of them are even are much bigger than me now, and I'm so proud of them!

I think it's less that they avoid streamers as friends, but want streamers as friends but only as a stepping stool for their career and like... having had people try to do that to me, you can tell REAL fast.

Not that I haven't run into shitty people in the space too but at a certain point I feel like some people who say this kind of thing try to cozy up to bigger creators who can smell their intentions a mile away and react appropriately lmao

I always find it a little odd when I come across people who are like "its impossible to make streamer friends", "creators only care about numbers or they won't even acknowledge you" or like "content creators don't actually care about each other" because I've met such lovely people/friends??
