Think it might be time to stop following r/MST3K again. So tired of all the whiny babies hating on everything about the new seasons. Lock yourself in your rec rooms with your VHS tapes fellas, and let the rest of us enjoy 3 great seasons of a great show

The quilt is done, washed and drying, I lit the first fire of the winter, G made us hot chocolate, we’re watching the MST3K marathon and life is wonderful

It’s done! 100% done. The stitching around the label is a bit raggedy. I didn’t machine sew it because I wanted to put it on after topstitching, but next time I will use the machine.

I wish I could say I learned through this just through my own insight and wisdom, but the truth is I smashed myself against the rocks several times and had my need for expression and love for design outweigh that need for validation. But I have learned some things i can share...
As someone who is new in this space, I definitely struggle with searching for validation in TTRPGs. Obviously it's bad for my mental health, but any tips that helped you learn that lesson?

Binding going slower than I expected. Worked on it all afternoon and I’m only about 1/2 done. Hand binding is a pain. Looks nice though.

Time to make the binding! Right now I am thanking past me for cutting the binding back at the beginning when I cut everything else. Past me was pretty smart.

Question for quilters: how do you wash a big quilt? This is a large queen, I’m not sure it will fit in my washing machine but a laundromat machine might be too harsh & might damage it? What do y’all do?
November 28, 2025 at 12:55 AM
I’m … done hand sewing? I still have a couple hours of topstitching left, then the binding. If I really press on I might finish tomorrow!

The irises are doing great! I don’t know if the buds that are fully closed will ever open, but there are enough half-open buds to give us nice flowers for at least a few days

Dog. I know the couch is your “snuggles & scritches” spot. But you cannot get dog hair all over the quilt in my lap that’s going to be a gift. Sorry!

It’s Turkey Day! Dinner is from Strong Arm and I’ve been saving hand sewing all week so I can spend the whole day watching the MST3K marathon and still be productive. The best Thanksgiving.

Are all y’all MST3K fans as stoked about this as I am

We might get frost tonight so I cut the irises. Thanks @loreandordure.com for the idea! Here’s hoping they last indoors longer than they would have outside :)

Croissant sourdough bread. Dang it’s good!
November 26, 2025 at 7:56 PM
G baked “croissant sourdough bread,” sourdough with lamination 😍 it’s made with layers of grated frozen butter inside

So close to finished, I think I’ll be done midday Saturday, and confession, I am SO SICK of sewing right now. It’s going to be a long time before I make a quilt on a deadline again.

MST3K friends: is there a schedule posted for this year’s Turkey Day marathon? Trying to plan my day :)

My poor dumb transplanted irises are looking gorgeous but not for long, we’re supposed to get 2 nights of hard freeze this week. I wish they would’ve spent this time growing roots not flowers

We went to family friends for Thanksgiving. My mom made me hold a pumpkin cheesecake in my lap in the car. “Whatever you do Sarah, hold onto the plate!” Dad had to brake hard, I held onto the plate for dear life, the cheesecake flew off the plate and landed on the floor of the car.
yes, hello, I would like to place an order for everyone’s funniest stories of holiday food-related family grudges / drama / chaotic incidents / lore

I feel like we need this

I’ve gotten so much sewing done I treated myself to a boba tea and now I feel all jittery, maybe next time not the black tea

I’m burying threads in my quilt and watching Pride & Prejudice (for the umpteenth time) and my life may be a cliche right now but I’m not sorry about it

I forgot to post about today’s show celebrating music by immigrants! Dang it! I think it was a good show, I got a couple of great requests (Miriam Makeba, Cal Tjader who was not an immigrant but had immigrant parents, Irving Berlin who I was already opening to play). Here’s the playlist:

G made chicken stroganoff. So good! It’s a comfort food recipe from Brazil. We had to buy a big can of the potato sticks. I foresee many casseroles with potato stick topping
