'The title comes from a particularly lyrical passage in the latter part of the book. It reflects the point at which Amelie and Dave are separated and alone. It is rather a bleak title, and the cover illustration is even more bleak, but there is a warmth and optimism'

'Betrayal is up to her usual high standards. It is an absorbing read and the author isn’t afraid to tackle large topics, such as misogyny, trust and betrayal. Several ‘noir’ novels recently have featured characters with political careers, and this works particularly well in this instance.
