Done with #adventofcode πŸ˜ƒ Thanks @was.tl πŸ‘

Programming with different languages -- #Clojure, #Crystal, #Elixir, #Rust, #Scala -- was easy πŸ˜€ except for the naming problem, e.g., scan vs accumulate (Crystal), filter vs select (Crystal), and_then (Rust) vs flatmap 🀨

πŸ’― @wired.com had been doing a kickass job of covering news that is usually covered by MSM. I have been recommending Wired in my circle for some time now πŸ˜ƒ
"We would expect people who are AI literate to not only be a bit better at interacting with AI systems, but also at judging their performance with those systems,” Welsch added, β€œbut this was not the case.” 🀦🀦🀦

AI Is Causing a Grim New Twist on the Dunning-Kruger Effect, New Research Finds
New research shows how AI tools is making a Dunning-Kruger specimen out of everyone that uses them, no matter how smart.

Frou Frou's "Details" has a unique sound. The album seems to borrow and blend different musical styles/influences with electronic music. #music #musicsky

I am not a fan of the #Python language. Even so, I love the recent action of PSF. It takes spine to stick by one's values and PSF sure has both πŸ‘πŸ™ŒπŸ‘πŸ™Œ

The PSF has withdrawn a $1.5 million proposal to US government grant program

'AI has all the hallmarks of a bubble. β€œThere’s no question,” he says. β€œIt hits all the right notes.” Uncertainty? Check. Pure plays? Check. Novice investors? Check. A great narrative? Check. On that 0-to-8 scale, Goldfarb says, it’s an 8.'

AI Is the Bubble to Burst Them All
I talked to the scholars who literally wrote the book on tech bubblesβ€”and applied their test.

Interesting. This morning, I read a LinkedIn post about how Amazon's Bedrock team is using AI coding agents to generate most of their Rust code. I wonder if you had read it and what were your thoughts about it. (Yet to read your blog post.)

TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-...

Out of curiosity, can unused data centers be repurposed? If not, what happens to these data centers? And, who will foot the bill for these data centers when they are not needed, e.g., the AI bubble bursts?

Former US Sen. Kyrsten Sinema lobbies for data center developer at Chandler AZ Plan Commission. Says she's working "hand in glove" w Trump Admin & warns city to embrace DCs or face federal intervention. City Council vote on Sinema's DC scheduled for Nov. 13.
Tron:Ares is a fun movie to watch in theatre. Visually and aurally rich. Great soundtrack by NIN. The plot is meh. The best part is the movie has no slow bits. #movie #music
Makes sense! I had similar observations with student's ability to reason and think critically. I wish universities and high schools collaborated to address these gaps.
Is this observation true of freshmen who have taken Stats or AP Stats in high school?
At times, instead of thinking in terms of support/love and opposition/hate which involve engagement, we need to step back and think if we should engage. Indifference may be more apt and necessary.
I wonder if academia contributed to this state by chasing Silicon Valley's tail in prioritizing research topics and directions; be it due to funding, student interest, publication pressure, etc.
Appreciate your effort πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Take care, your sanity is more important than AoC πŸ˜„
I think we can and should do better as an industry. Given how the industry is evolving, I believe the current normal will change in the coming years. Let's see how this skeet ages πŸ˜„
Tame Impala's latest album, Deadbeat, has its moments. Unlike its predecessors, it did not immediately grab my attention; maybe, it will slowly grow on me. We will see.

Systems like AWS will fail. A way around "AWS is too big to fail" is to reduce the coupling between the #reliability of systems/services and the reliability of AWS, e.g., use multi-cloud or on-prem or some mix, consider system's availability independent of AWS' availability.

#systems #aws #cloud
Good point. I hope that, after the systems are back up, orgs/teams that offer critical services conduct post-mortem analysis for their systems (i.e., not just rely on post-mortem from AWS), pause to consider that "cloud too can be a SPoF", and adapt their systems.
