OpenCape spent a productive day on Beacon Hill testifying before the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities, and Energy in support of Bill H.3478 — An Act to Streamline Broadband Permitting and Ensure Equitable Access to Infrastructure.
Filed by Representative Kip Diggs, this important legislation addresses real and solvable challenges—chief among them, the permitting delays for aerial and conduit fiber infrastructure that continue to hinder broadband progress across Massachusetts.
OpenCape CEO Steve Johnston, Vice President of Business Operations Jenn Brann, and Board Chair John Campbell, MBA, CHCIO, joined Representative Diggs and other stakeholders to advocate for a permitting process that is transparent, consistent, and equitable. This is a critical step toward accelerating broadband deployment, fostering innovation, and ensuring all communities across the Commonwealth have access to the high-speed connectivity they need and deserve.
