On June 28, 1969, Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York was raided by the police.

For five nights, queer people took to the streets, protesting the injusticeβ€”demanding equal rights.

Stonewall was years in the making. It was a response to decades of protests, and organizing by queer communities.
