There are quite a few images of Mennonites in Kansas, but that would require them doing actual documentary work. They even told me that their 'historians' support the images used.

I've worked with quite a few of the PBS people at various news stations, so it pisses me off even more.

After calling out my local PBS chapter for using gen AI in a documentary, they said they had to do it because of budget cuts. I'm sorry, but that's bullshit and a lazy excuse. Kinda wishing I didn't do a year long pledge.

My local PBS chapter is using generative AI for a documentary about Mennonites and it is embarrassingly bad. I know some of the people that work there and know they are good journalists but this is a glaring ethical problem.

Currently rethinking my donations.

So sad when an indie studio has to make difficult choices. Heart Machine is one of my faves and I hope the people let go are able to find work and hopefully HM finds a path forward that works for them.
