It was the student union but that's relocated now and the building is empty.

The Earth Centre (1st pic) has been gone ages - only lasted about 5 years.
It did clear an old colliery site though so the money wasn't totally wasted.
The NCPM in Sheffield didn't even make it to a year before closing. The building is currently empty and will probably be demolished.

You can pretty much map the extent of Viking settlement in England by the place names 1000 years later.

I'm an engineer and my vocational degree has made sure I've had a decent job but I told my kids to study whatever inspired them - if you study a subject you're not interested in you'll hate it and won't do well in it.
