Surely actual depreciation (vs accounting dep'n) is tied to the working life of the chip? If the performance of the chip doesn't deteriorate over, say, 10 years, then real depreciation is 10% a year straight line. It doesn't matter that new chips are faster/cheaper, replacement isn't compulsory

Reading between the lines, he's mostly worried about inescapable higher taxes and confiscation of his wealth/popular uprising. The religious part is because purely rational arguments aren't enough to get people excited. Wealth can drive you crazy.

I feel there is a difference between stock market crashes, which is what this is shaping up to be, and financial crises, which are usually the result of leverage (debt), particularly leverage that is not readily visible beforehand. The former --> recession. The latter --> banking collapse
