Big turnout today. The highlight was a surprise speech from Ayman Soliman a local imam imprisoned by ICE for 73 days. His courage is an inspiration to all of us to fight, because we can win against the odds. Also tons of visitors to our local DSA chapter’s table was a huge win. Solidarity forever.

One weird positive of it being so apolitical is that the organizers seem to pretty receptive to letting any group interested to table or speak so I think it is having an unintentional benefit of exposing people to a lot more leftist orgs than if this was an Indivisible event. But we’ll have to see.

For everyone out there protesting today of course stay safe, but more than anything enjoy the shared sense of community with so many like minded people. There are more of us and we are gonna win.

NIN’s soundtrack is the major selling point. You can see the love for the previous 2 movies in there & it has a couple fun ideas of its own but really falls flat in comparison. Leto absolutely doomed this thing. He’s lifeless. More Greta Lee & Jodie Turner-Smith though. See you in another 15 years?

Love trying to replace my video doorbell, having to spend 20 minutes finding the specialty tool that came with the old doorbell just to remove it because they changed the set screw size on the new version, then get it installed only to discover that I need a new doorbell transformer too. Madness!

My two cents about No Kings 2 is that yes the protests alone haven’t changed anything but I think not attending if you’re able squanders a big community organizing opportunity. People are looking for direction, if you’re part of an org or just solo this is a great place to be visible & connect. 1/3

I’m still consider myself new to all this but I haven’t had any negative experiences and I’ve found all the previous events friendly and empowering. Just use common sense, be prepared to be outside a long time, hydrate, have an exit plan, etc. 3/3

I expect these to remain peaceful but I do think all participants should be more vigilant for bad actors from the right this time. That said I think showing up in huge numbers is more important than ever and we shouldn’t let fear win. There are more of us. Let’s show em. 2/3
