It's 2 days since the 2025 off-year elections and I'm still feeling genuinely hopeful for our future. In both red and blue states people turned out and voted for causes and candidates that support democracy. Just posting to remind myself for when it gets dark again.
When I was growing up I remember we were allowed to say Norfolk so as kids we would always talk like we were going there since it's pronounced "Naw fuck," however it seems nowadays people are pronouncing it very weird, rhymes with "poor yoke," and I wonder exactly when that changed.

I've seen high-profile media people talking about how Trump doesn't do rallies anymore but none of them have mentioned that he's older and it doesn't appear that he can stand up for 3-4 hours at a time anymore. I wonder why nobody mentions that, am I missing something? He sits all the time now.

What I don't understand and have not seen anyone answer directly is WHY would Hegseth order people to commit murder? I don't understand what he even gained from it. What was the point?

The fact that so many people are discussing what a war crime even is, who's responsible for them, and so on is something I never expected. But I'm glad that so many care about these issues, including several Republicans I know with military backgrounds. They all seem incensed, as they should be.

I need gift ideas for a 62 year old woman, does a lot of cooking and works as a housekeeper. Lives alone, has a chihuahua and 2 cats. I'm not allowed to buy a gift card or spend over $50. But I'm at a loss! This is for a church program where I "sponsor" her but I don't really know her. Any ideas?

Anyone spending holidays alone, remember even though we're alone, we're not the only one. I try to stay busy, flip through old books, clear off unused stuff on my phone, write goals for next year. Looking at pics of other people's families on social media is not usually helpful. Love to everyone. ❤️
