DHS Laborer was assigned car to drive people to shelters in the Bronx. Instead, he used it to make 32 personal stops in the Bronx and Yonkers. Agency penalty: surrender 5 days annual leave ($1,450), 15 calendar-day suspension ($3,190). No add’l Board fine. on.nyc.gov/42RKFss

DHS Supervisor misused position by accepting $550 loan from subordinate. Paid it back in 1 mo. The instance caused 2nd violation b/c it's prohibited to enter into $$ relationship w/subordinate/superior. 5-day agency suspension ($1298 value). No add'l fine. on.nyc.gov/4jWcAxx

DOHMH Assistant Commish oversaw not-for-profit that dealt with DOHMH. In her official capacity, she approved a number of decisions of the not-for-profit that directly affected her daughter's employment at that not-for-profit. $2K fine. on.nyc.gov/4gY1nKh

ENFORCEMENT: Misuse of Position

DOE Principal fined $500 for accepting $200 in gifts from 20 subordinates for “National Principals’ Day.” COI law prohibits public servants from accepting gifts of more than $10 from subordinates for holidays or birthdays.

ENFORCEMENT: Misuse of City Resources

A teacher stored 3,061 documents on his DOE computer related to his outside businesses (mostly restaurants) and jobs (as an independent contractor for two real estate firms). The teacher paid a $7,000 fine to the Board.
