Someone pointed out that many/most/all penalties under the Hatch Act are civil in nature (as opposed to criminal). I am not certain that a President can pardon those.

If the numbers are bad, someone new at BLS gets canned.

But then Fed can lower rates so maybe no one there gets harassed or fired.

If the numbers are excellent (because BLS lies) the BLS folks are safe.

But then Fed keeps rates where they are and Powell is marched out. It all makes sense.

Surprised this wasn’t a two-fer. They could have fired the person at commerce who posts the inflation numbers. It’s going to be weird when the next jobs report shows +10,000,000 and Fed is forced to raise rates.
